COLD CASE: Video not enough to solve ‘08 killing of S.J. man
Stranded on a street just outside of Center City Philadelphia, Matt Novak Jr. flagged down a passing car for help.
After conferring with the men inside the blue Chevy Impala, Novak, a 24-year-old from Mullica Hill, left his two friends with their disabled vehicle and slid into the back seat of the idling car to get a set of jumper cables.

“We don’t want this to drift off in the sunset,” the elder Novak says. “That is the worst thing that could happen.”
Reliving the past
Seated side by side in a spare conference room tucked away in the Gloucester Township Police headquarters, Novak Sr. and Dougherty run through the details surrounding “Little Matt’s” death with an agonized familiarity.
