Jacket softball players back on the road
After spending the entire spring break on the road a week ago, the Montana State University Billings softball team is again packing their bags for another Great Northwest Athletic Conference road trip, this time against Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho.
The Yellowjackets were scheduled to play 10 games during their most recent road trip, but due to weather, completed eight of those contests as the doubleheader at Saint Martin's was postponed. The Yellowjackets finished the trip 3-5, splitting the four games with Western Oregon and dropping 3-of-4 to Central Washington.
In the Western Oregon series, MSUB won both games on the first day and dropped both games on the second day. Meg Harasymczuk led the way offensively for the Jackets, hitting .545 in the series with seven runs scored on six hits, two doubles, two home runs and she had four RBI.
The pitching and defense was solid on the first day for MSUB as Kasie Conder took the wins on Saturday, coming in on relief in both games.
The second day produced less offense for the Yellowjackets as the bats went cold and the defense slipped with errors, allowing the Wolves to sneak in runs for the victories.
After spending two days in Lacey, WA, MSUB and the Saints were unable to play their scheduled doubleheader because of the snow and rain in the area.
The Jackets then travelled to Central Washington for a four-game series with the Wildcats. The Jackets earned a split on day one, and again the offense went cold and the defense had mistakes on day two, allowing the Wildcats to bring across unearned runs that led to victories.
Kelly Parsons and Rose Harrington had a good weekend despite the losses. Parsons hit .429 with a run, two RBI and a home run.
