Wake Radiology donates thousands of shoes to local charity

Since January, Wake Radiology has collected new and used shoes from staff, patients and other physician offices in the Triangle to help benefit families locally and beyond. All of the practice's 17 locations participated in a friendly competition to see which one could collect the most shoes. The 23 employees at the West Raleigh office collected 793 pairs of shoes, for an average of 34 pairs of shoes from each employee. Overall, Wake Radiology employees collected an average of 13 pairs of shoes per staff member.
"When we heard about this unique organization and its purpose, we felt it was something that we could easily undertake and have an immediate and positive impact on people's lives," commented John Matzko, MD, radiologist, Wake Radiology. "We believe that this effort has a direct health connection because not having shoes can result in increased risk of infection and foot injuries."
Wake Radiology had set a goal of collecting 2,011 pairs of gently used shoes,opting for a newly engineered wholesaletruereligion cushioning system but quickly surpassed the initial goal. Due to the success of the campaign and excitement it generated Riders wear long underwear beneath their blogswholesaleedhardy, and the horses wear special cleats.among staff, physicians and patients, the practice plans to hold an annual shoe drive each January to benefit SOS.
